I was a System Administrator from late 2000 to late 2002.

Left because I could not live in Seattle anymore. I am a Southern California boy!

I was there from Fall '98 to Summer '02 -- Got moved by AMZN out to Seattle from the East Coast to be a music editor.

It was a dream job the first two years, and I didn't mind the warehouse work in the winter the way many of my coworkers did, and then it was an OK job the last two years. It went from us editors doing what we were really psyched about doing to what the marketing/ MBA people told us to do (and us trying to sneak cool shit in despite that) but it was never a bad gig, really.

I made some great friends at AMZN and in Seattle, but I found the place to be too expensive/ uninteresting/ uptight for me and I tried working at the Seattle Times but that place is fricking CRAZY, lame, and nepotistic, so I moved to Portland last year and LOVE it here -- I freelance and while I make less money it sure is nice to never have to sit in a meeting with khaki pants MBA peeps anymore.

I did not drink the Kool Aid but I may have gargled with the shit. I still do freelance writing for 'em -- reviews of books/ CDs.
